Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka,it is a city located in the southern part of India.people originally belonging to this place are known as ‘kannadigas’.The official language is Kannada. It has a rich history of being once ruled by the wodeyar kings. The ‘Bangalore palace ‘which still houses the royal household is proof of royal legacy. The lalbagh and the Tipu’s summer palace are some of the places to see.

Bangalore ,was once known as the garden city. But there is less of greenery and more of pollution and population nowadays. The weather too is getting less pleasant, all thanks to global warming. The Western culture is fast catching up with bangaloreans. With huge malls ,pubs and discotheque,Bangalore is more cosmopolitan shedding its traditional form.”Hegidhira ? Chennagidhira ? How are you? hope you are doing good ?will surely bring a smile to every kannadiga.

The food in Bangalore is unmatched. The crispy “Mysore masala dosa ” originated from ‘Mysore’which is a place located just a few kilometers away from Bangalore.Dosa ,is a crispy pancake made of rice and lentils with a tasty filling of coconut chutney and potato curry.Topped with a dollop of butter .Tumba chennagida ! meaning It’s very nice is what you will say after eating it.Head to Vidhyarthi bhavan for authentic dosas. It is a very small eatery ,with a rustic ambience ,with table and chairs of a bygone era,but that’s what makes it all the more interesting, the walls are adorned with old framed photographs of famous personalities of Karnataka. Many times you will have to wait in line before your turn comes before being seated,it is that crowded, and when you are there make sure you ask for an extra portion of butter with your dosas.A bite of it and you will surely not be disappointed, and not to forget to gulp down the strong piping hot filter coffee after the dosa, heavenly.Do make sure to find out the restaurant timings before heading towards it.You are sure to be in vidyarthi bhavan ,when u see dosas being served in the above manner. This cannot be seen in any other place.

In Bangalore ,apart from a variety of dosas with a wide variety of fillings inside, the rava idly, madhur vadde, upma made of semolina are some of the local favorites. The ragi mudde or the ragi balls with sopina saaru topped with ghee,is a local delicacy, and a must have.Traditionally you can find lunch served on a banana leaf with sumptuous portions of rice ,sambar (a soup like consistency of lentils and vegetables)pappadams ,pickles ,kosumbari (salad) payasa a sweet porridge. This can be finally finished off with a portion of curd rice. With that kind of a meal you are sure to end up with a burrrp !

If you want to see the real Bangalore head to malleshwaram.

Make sure you buy some mallige hoova (jasmine flowers ) when you are there. It also tests your bargaining skills.’Illa’is a no ‘houdu’is a yes and ‘kodu’ is give.”Namaskara”is a form of greeting and is used to say hello. But make sure you are no where near the area during festivals,as it’s a total chaos then.

The traditional silk sarees are breathtaking, the sarees are interwoven with threads of the silk worm to create beautiful designs these are then dyed with a single color or a series of colors. For some of the historical architecture head to belur and halebid a few kilometers away from bangalore, you will be surely mesmerized by the ancient architecture.

Fashion:Dress to be happy

My love for dressing up.Dates back to early childhood, when my mom was so particular about what I wore when I was inside the house or when I stepped outside home.It was not that we could afford expensive clothes ,but it was about looking tidy and neat with whatever little we had.So all thanks to her I would say.IMG_4033

I always believe, when you look good you feel good, and I am lucky to live currently in Dubai ,I get to see and buy the best of things.Once again I say wearing nice clothes does not just mean wearing expensive clothes only, well ,you need to have an instinct to select your clothes ,will this particular dress match my exsisting wardrobe?will it look good on me ?does the color suit my complexion?I would rather answer them before buying. When you want to hide your extra kilos then ‘black ‘is the perfect color. If you want to brighten up the face then I highly recommend putting on a liquid Matt red lipstick.Accessories play a major role .Team up your dress with pearl bracelets or earrings and volla! you are ready for any occasion. When you are wearing pale clothes you rather brighten up by wearing a bright lipstick shade or eye catching bright accessory.Oh yes ! Bad breath and awful body odour is a dead giveaway so make sure you smell good.

I frequently use to attend book meets happening in the neighborhood, and it was like ,people seemed to be there just after getting out of bed.Your love for reading books doesn’t mean you forget to look good.So yes ,even if it is for a book meet or a play date make sure you look the best. You need not look good only during a business meet or a night out.

IMG_4032We are what we have

Money divided people,
The rich and poor,
The haves and the have nots.
Paper notes ,what are they to value people’s worth.
The world belongs to all,
For it is Gods creation ,who are we to lend it,buy it or sell it .
Paper notes ,what are they to decide the destiny of gods creations.
People who have it are knowledgeable and those who don’t are not.
The little boy gleams at the toffee shop ,but alas!he only can see it from afar,
Why ? Isn’t he too Gods child.
The hunger pangs felt by one and all ,but yet each one of us are fulfilled in different manner,
Why is there inequality in equality ?
Let only the rich have hunger pangs let them only have desires and wants.
For they have the means to fulfill it .
Let there be equality in everything.
For as they say, everyone’s equal in the eyes of God.
If there is a difference let there be difference in everything.
Why this similarity in dissimilar beings ?
